The orientation of the home is such that the house benefits from extra sunlight during the colder months while it is protected from the harsh desert heat during the summer. This passive cooling and heating technique also cuts out reliance on artificial temperature control systems.

It was Lane Williams Architects who transformed this 1960s midcentury home into a contemporary family residence by expanding the living area adding an additional bedroom and breaking up the visual of dark Western Red Cedar in the living area with a white-painted drywall.
